Spoke too soon as I did not go beyond first page:

Lollipop, on my Nexus 5 I cannot read the issues - it downloads the iisue, shows the first page, and closes as soon as i try to get into any article.

you can copy-paste the articles and then convert the pages to epub/mobi or any other format.
You can't copy-paste the pics, but if you have a rooted phone, you can locate them easily.
