The Firefly series by Brigg Nalle (#1-4)

Overview: Born in the northwest and now in Eastern Washington, Brigg Nalle has been a bookworm and storyteller ever since he was a child. He enjoyed reading so much that he wanted to make his own stories and share them like all of his favorite authors. 1. Little Firefly
Damon Nielson is a senior in high school. Unlike many however, he prefers to keep to himself because dealing with the world is hard enough when you don't want to exist anymore. Between being bullied at school and struggling in a broken home, Damon just doesn't have the motivation to get over his anxiety and really start living for a change. He is distant from his one and only friend, and has accepted that he may never be good enough for Caitlyn Fullbuster, a beautiful redhead who may or may not really notice him.
He eventually meets Lucy Shelby, a new transfer student who just so happens to have a small crush on Damon's friend, Grayson Slack. The only problem is, she is a mute and cannot express herself like everyone else. Under strange circumstances, Damon agrees to help Lucy who in turn will help him with Caitlyn. As the two work together, Damon is taken on a journey and experiences a friendship he had never thought possible.
But will it really matter, if they succeed in their search for 'young love' and they go their separate ways? Or will the troubles of both school and his past make Damon just give up again and retreat like always? Can Damon learn to grow and shine bright even on the darkest of nights? Or will he remain in the dark, with no light at all?
2. Dancing Fireflies
Having failed his attempt of suicide, Damon Nielson is now under close rehabilitation in order to put himself back together and get to the source of his depression. It is not easy, for nothing seems to have changed in school or at home, especially with his father being more distant than ever.
With the help of his friends, the process of healing is made easier and Damon continues on his journey to find the meaning of life. But his friends are held together only by a very thin string, for it might be the case that Grayson Slack, Damon's best friend, is cheating on Lucy Shelby; the girl who managed to stop Damon in time before he could take his life. What is worse, is that the person Gray might be with is Damon's crush, Caitlyn, who has been vacant since the terrible incident. With his own life a mess, Damon wonders just where his boundaries and loyalties lie as he tries to find out the truth and help his friends. If the rumors are true, then what is the right thing to do for everyone without losing anyone? In his search for what may or may not be true, Damon must figure out just what really builds and sustains a friendship, and therefore reveal just what sort of ground all of his friends stand on and who would still be standing in the long run. Can he find out the truth, and what will he do with it once he does?
Just what could happen, if a firefly is too afraid to shine his light in the darkness where others might be lost?
3. Sleeping Firefly
You can never tell what someone else has gone through.
A recovering Damon Nielson is getting ready for the holidays for the first time in forever. Though still doubtful about himself and his future, he knows that if he really wants to find true happiness, he will have to strive to do the best he can and rely on those who care about him; including his group of friends, no matter the odds.
But when the past decides to come back, the results can be devastating.
Lucy Shelby has fallen into a deep depression and silence since the arrival of a strange car that had sped through the cul-de-sac. When Lucy suffers from a complete breakdown at the sight of the vehicle, it soon becomes clear that someone from Lucy's past has arrived, and they may not be friendly.
Between striving to do the best he can for himself as well as everyone he cares about, Damon must do his best to support Lucy who now feels trapped and in need of a true friend to show her that her light has not gone out as of yet. Can Damon uncover the mystery as to who is now on the hunt for Lucy and the torment they bring? Can he be a shining light to save his best friend?
Or will this firefly fall asleep with minimal chances of awakening again?
4. Shining Firefly
After another close encounter with his end, Damon and his dear friend Lucy move forward on the road of life. But doing so isn't easy, especially when your past holds on tight refusing to let go. When people from Damon's own past try to worm their way in, it makes it hard for him to let go and seek his own closure.
Soon high school will be another distant memory, and Damon dreads what will follow. He is struggling with his studies, has no idea if and where he will work or continue school, and even doubts his own dreams when it comes to his writing. As trials also arise for his friends, so does one for his own confidence in himself, both to face his past and let it go and embrace an unknown future. He must also deal with the present, which involve a sudden upbringing of violence both with his past and inside Evergreen High as more and more students begin to fall victim under brutal attacks. Endless tug-o-wars between family and friendship. Even a possible love interest. All things good and bad jumble around and cause Damon to feel like he is in the center of an endless hurricane.
Can one live presently with a past that refuses to stay behind? Can one truly move on and embrace a future full of endless possibilities and chances be them good and bad? Can one still remember to shine as a beacon of hope to the ones who matter?
