Peter Chambers series by Henry Kane (#1, 2, 4, 5, 14, 15, 27)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 2.6mb
Overview: Author Henry Kane was a lawyer who seemed to prefer writing. In his career, wrote over 60 novels, including about 30 featuring Peter Chambers. Other short-lived series characters were PIs Marla Trent and retired NYPD detective inspector turned P.I. McGregor. He also wrote the movie adaptations for Ed McBain's 87th Precinct's Cop Hater and The Mugger. And, in light of his experience with Chambers, Kane was the perfect choice to pen an original novel starring television's Peter Gunn.
Genre: Fiction | Mystery/Thriller

Peter Chambers #1 - Martinis and Murder (aka A Halo for Nobody)
A leggy torch singer of bawdy ballads with an eye-opening dance routine to match . . .
A lady jewelry designer with an exclusive - deadly - clientele . . .
A sweet young bride with a drawerful of illicit letters that her husband never wrote . . .
And murder - three lush man-traps mixed up in the murder of a fourth - all set to explode as Peter Chambers, fiction’s most hard-boiled private-eye, dodges bullets on a murder trail from the plush retreats of high society to after-hours Greenwich Village!

Peter Chambers #2 - Armchair in Hell
When a lush brunette turns up unexpectedly dead in a stranger's bed, and an antique dealer (who is "mostly legit") settles down in an easy chair with a dagger in his back, and a big-time gambler drops all bets on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood - then Peter Chambers, fiction's most eye-catching, hard-boiled private eye, finds himself staked out as victim number 4 in a high-priced game of death and international intrigue.

Peter Chambers #4 - Hang By Your Neck
Peter Chambers is a private richard who has a real affinity for trouble. He hasn't any notion at all who polished off the nasty blonde with the round hole between her eyes—or the little man swinging by the neck from a bedroom window. Peter has strong incentives for finding out the answers—partly because the only thing he can do is break the case wide open before the going gets too rough; but mainly because his fee is Miami Moonbeam, six feet of ravishing, red-haired woman.

Peter Chambers #5 - Homicide at Yuletide (aka A Corpse for Christmas)
Peter Chambers is hired by Genie Tiny, a fellow private eye, to find Sheldon Talbot and Ok a deal she and her employer Barney Bernandino set up with Talbot. Chambers knows Talbot is a scientist who supposedly died in a truck accident a while ago. Genie assures him that Talbot is alive and waiting for her at a specific address. She can't go because she's in jail awaiting traffic court appearance on a DUI. It's all trumped up, she claims, but she's stuck until she can plead her case. Pete agrees to act as her proxy. When he arrives at the agreed upon location he finds Talbot dead and an 18 year old girl (who looks much older) standing over the body holding a gun. Three more women, all former wives of Talbot, figure into the murder case. And there will be more than one corpse at Christmas before Chambers gets to the bottom of the mess.

Peter Chambers #14 - The Name is Chambers
A night-club owner gunned down at his own bar—an editor gutted with an antique switchblade—a smuggler who took five shots in the back—a millionaire whose “suicide” didn’t make sense …
Each killing left the cops high and dry—fine. Because that meant someone had to hire me, Chambers, to find the killer. For a fat fee, and you can bet I earn every dollar. And with girls like Lola, Marcia, Kathy, Angelica, and the rest, each case has such nice fringe benefits …

Peter Chambers #15 - Fistful of Death
The proposition sounded like a pushover. All Peter Chambers had to do was find out where a teen-aged chorine had been for the past month and why. And for that information, the girl's father - a prosperous banker - would pay Chambers a cool thousand dollars. It was a quick way to earn some easy money. Or so Chambers thought . . . until he found out that the fistful of cash carried a little something extra along with it - A Fistful of Death.

Peter Chambers #27 - The Schack Job
He was waiting for Opera Star Ursula Schack in her pad - The same suave jet-setting Pete Chambers we all know and love - with one eye on innocent hanky panky, the other on the main chance.
Only what's this? It's a case, all right. It involves one Greek billionaire shipping magnate, his wife (that's Ursula), certain other of her passionate lovers - plus double dealings threatening the security of the free world. And soon Pete's hanky panky stops being so innocent - as he finds himself hip-deep in raw sex and a triangle that may cost him his life.
