16. Death in the Ancient City - Ghost walks are fun – aren’t they? And when one of the stops on the ghost walk happens to be the very hotel where you’re staying, it’s kind of cool – isn’t it? But later on, when you’re alone in your suite, in the deep of the night when you’re trying to go to sleep in a bedroom that just might be haunted, it’s not so much fun after all. And when the ghost reaches out with a cold hand and touches you, all you can do is scream.
Such screams awaken two women from across the hall on their first night in the posh Castilian Hotel in downtown St. Augustine, Florida, but these ladies are from Chicago. They may be senior citizens, but they’re tough. They come running to help. Then they call in two unique friends they just happen to have: spirit medium Taylor Verone and paranormal investigator Edson Darby-Deaver. They know just what to do about ghosts. But is this spirit haunting the hotel, or was the attack triggered by something about the lady herself?
17. The Dead Files - Sex in the workplace is a complete no-no, so naturally it happens all the time. In the small, Bible Belt community of Tropical Breeze, sniffing out scandal is everybody’s favorite pastime, so Tina Lockhart must have understood the risk. She just couldn’t help herself. When Tina drops dead at her desk, right in the middle of the office, it’s shocking. Still, her death was due to natural causes, and she was quickly replaced with someone newer, smarter and prettier. But where animal passions run wild, one thing will always lead to another. Before you know it, dead bodies may even start to drop.
When two of the most prominent bodies in town happen to drop right at the edge of Taylor Verone’s property, she sniffs a scandal, all right. And before she knows it, her lover is involved, her best friend is involved, everybody in Tropical Breeze is talking about it, and the Chief of Police is sending her undercover to Gossip Central. In the end, Taylor may uncover more secrets than her conscience will allow her to reveal, even to the police.
