Bound by love, a young woman refuses to let him die, but his salvation lies with a healing artifact kept by the rich and powerful. She must brave an impenetrable stronghold, steal the magical relic, and escape alive. Should she fail, he will die.
In another sector of the city, a mortally injured young woman is carried by the young rune-carver who loves her. He runs through the dark to bring her to safety - to his people. But will they heal her when they discover who she truly is? This mage will not let his love perish even if it means defying his master and his people.
Death swirls through the dark city. It groans through its final death throes when a madman unleashes a new horror that might destroy everything.
