He hadn’t managed it yet, but when someone attempts against his life during the week of celebration for his anniversary, he doesn’t miss the chance to try to implicate her in the matter. Unfortunately for him, she has allies in her corner. One of them is Hild Estridsen, her best friend, handmaiden, and sometimes lover. Another is Ryoko, her secret lover, a monster girl that Morgan should have known better than to involve herself with, but now it was far too late to deny the romance she shared with the other female.
With their help, she will do her best to catch the ones behind her father’s assassination attempt, bring them to justice, and force her father’s hand in the process. And, if, at the same time, she plays a bit of court politics and manages to secure the hand of one of the most powerful noblewomen in the realm for herself, she will only be making it harder for her father to ever plot against her again.
But she’s not the only one that’s been plotting. Her father had invited the ruler of Briste – the monster kingdom – to come to his celebration, and no one in the capital had been prepared for that. The devil queen was more than just a dangerous monster; she was a threat, an enemy, and no one understood what the king was planning with her presence. Morgan was sure it wasn’t something that would benefit her.
