03 Revolt Against Rome
Tribune Valerius Maximus and Centurion Marcellus Veronus, survivors of the Teutoburg Forest disaster in Legions of the Forest and decorated heroes in the subsequent reprisal campaign, Return of the Eagles, are back. It has been fifteen years since they donned the uniform of the legions. They are retired from military service and own a prosperous trading company on the shores of the Rhenus. Both men lead idyllic lives with their families and Germania is at peace. What could go wrong? Plenty.
They are unexpectedly summoned to Rome to meet with the Emperor, Tiberius Caesar. He recalls the pair to active duty and restores their former ranks as all is not well in Germania. Rumor has it that a Germanic tribe, the Frisii, are about to revolt. They are tasked by Tiberius to discover the truth about the rebellion and assist the newly appointed Governor, Julius Frontinius Gallus, in any military operations. Upon returning to Germania, they realize that Gallus is the cause of the Frisian revolt and will resort to anything, including murder, to stop Valerius’s and Marcellus’s investigation. They must utilize all their military abilities and guile to fight both the Frisii and the unscrupulous Gallus as, once again, the legions are trapped in the German woodlands by ferocious enemy warriors.

04 Insurrection in the Legions
It has been almost a year since the intrepid pair of Valerius Maximus and Marcellus Veronus battled the rebellious Frisii nation. Peace and tranquility have once again been restored in Germania. However, the Goddess Fortuna will not let them rest. It all starts again with the mysterious plague related deaths of two of the legates commanding legions along the Rhine. Strange, because there is no plague evident in Germania.
At the request of a friend, they agree to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two generals. This puts them at odds with the newly appointed military governor, Marcus Attius Mellitus, a powerful figure of unbounded ambition and commander of the eight legions stationed on the German frontier. Valerius and Marcellus once again have a price put on their heads. They must flee Roman territory to the German side of the Rhine. The two former Roman officers must battle savage German warriors and Rome's own legions in order to survive. Friends become enemies and enemies become friends in a nefarious plot that reaches all the way to the imperial throne in Rome.

05 Barbarians on the Danube
It has been two years since Valerius Maximus, a former military tribune in the legions, was appointed governor of the German territories by Tiberius Caesar. Assisted by his wife Hereca, and his close friend, Marcellus Veronus, a retired centurion, commerce flows and prosperity abounds on the most volatile border of the Roman Empire. Through diplomacy and skillful negotiations, the Germanic tribes on the far side of the Rhine are finally at peace.
Tiberius unexpectedly recalls Valerius to Rome with a new assignment. The Empire is in dire need of his services elsewhere. The provincial borders on the Danube are unstable, nearing insurrection. He is directed to take command on the Danube and resolve the crisis. There are those in Rome who are envious of the power and prestige Valerius has amassed and view him contemptuously. Once again, Valerius and his friends are thrust into a vortex of political intrigue and violence. They must battle treacherous forces in Rome led by Praetorian prefect, Sejanus, and the fierce barbarian hordes beyond the Danube.
