Lear, Rey & Mendigo by Nicanor Parra
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 459 KB
Overview: In 1990 Nicanor Parra undertook the translation of King Lear by William Shakespeare. This, although dramatized by Alfredo Castro, remained unpublished for fourteen years and only now the reader has in his hands a mythical book that, according to the Argentine writer Ricardo Piglia, will assure Parra a place of honor in a biographical Encyclopedia of immortal translators.
Lear, Rey & Mendigo is unlike any of the versions of the Shakespearean classic that circulate in Spanish.
Specialist Chris Fassnidge claimed that the result would have met with the full approval of Shakespeare.

“Nicanor Parra is a hero of the concealment, himself a Bad Readings Map. He already rebels against Chilean poetry, against Marx or Freud, he knows the limits of the irony of irony. He is both a true innovator and an accomplice monument to Influence Anxiety. "
