I haven't been keeping up with this issue so I'm late to the update. Bluestacks method is no longer necessary.

Update Calibre's De-DRM with 10.0.9 (currently beta)
https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools/releases/tag/v10.0.9

Install or update KFX-Input plugin. You can do this within Calibre.

Install Kindle4PC 2.3.1 from Amzn (file details will say 2.3.70682 for some reason).

Download your books via K4PC (in Windows, Documents/My Kindle Content). Each book will be in a folder by ASIN. Add the file ending in .azw to Calibre. Will show as KFX (NOT KFX-zip. That's a fail). The format works with my elderly Paperwhite 2. Convert to epub, if that's what you need. Extraction of epub doesn't seem to be an option with this method.

I know nothing about Kindle4Mac.

Edited: convert, not extract.

Hi
Thanks for this.
What version of Calibre do you have installed ?
edit
I upgraded to the latest version of Calibre, followed your instructions, and removing drm from azw3 on a title published after Jan 01 2023 now works.
Thanks !

warez is waived (except when I indicate otherwise)

if you provide an amz link, pls use amz usa (not ca, uk, jp, br etc), thanks

I use Calibre for Windows and always try to keep it and the plugins up to date. There's a notification on the bottom bar so it's easy. Just passing on other peoples' genius. :D

BTW, if an epub *extract* is wanted (and I understand it's better than converting because nothing changes and it's what I do), I think you have to convert KFX to AZW3 first - which is an extra (slightly tedious) step.

This is great!
I've made it work for a 2022 KFX title that I can now read anywhere I choose, instead of being tied to my very old Kindle or K4PC.

Thank you!
